My name is Will Green and from 13th-20th March i will be living on a pound a day to live in solidarity with almost 1 billion people in the world as part of CAFOD’s Hungry for change campaign. This is a matter of awareness and pressuring the government to make changes that we, the people, are against unfair food distribution in the world to profit huge organisations. This is the first of a series of blogs to let you know how im getting on. Please leave comments and also follow me on twitter @1poundadaywill
As a newcomer to the theme of living on a pound a day i ventured down to the supermarket on my motorbike and was happily packing my basket with the cheapest staples i could find when it occurred to me i couldn’t carry it all home. All that much? No, my rucksack was already full. I had to call on a family member to come and help me already, and i hadn’t even started the challenge yet!
I was initially surprised at how cheap tinned veg was and stocked up to make it as healthy as possible. Below is a picture of everything i managed to buy for £6.93 (a wasted 7p if you ask me but i couldn’t find the pick n’ mix section in the shop)
