Maura Booth sent us this lovely report from St Joseph’s parish, Wath-upon-Dearne, about their recent fundraiser:
“Once again we held our CAFOD event last Saturday evening. We had a really marvellous time, lots of folks came and supported the event. It never ceases to amaze me how generous people are. I feel humbled by the kindness of our community.
Each year we wonder if we have come to the end of the line as this event has run for many years now. However days before donations, raffle prizes and offers of help are given and our hopes are raised. All the singers came and sang their hearts out, everyone joined in the singing. When Panjandrum played the dancing started and everyone had such fun.
Pie and peas were provided by a family from the parish and they kindly donated the money to CAFOD.
Peter, an artist from the parish, displayed his paintings and donated half the takings to CAFOD. People bought loads of raffle tickets and tickets for ‘spin the wheel’. We talked about the work of CAFOD and its importance now at this time as the world is still at war and people are suffering. The fact that we raised £578.50 says it all.”
A massive thank you to everyone from St Joseph’s parish for your wonderful fundraising work!
