Sarah Sanderson, a parishioner at the Holy Spirit in Dronfield went more than the extra mile for CAFOD recently. To help the 870+million, not so lucky as we are.
In fact Sarah went 26 (and a bit) miles by running the London Marathon. It was Sarah’s first Marathon and she completed it in 4hrs 21mins.
It left Sarah hungry for more. Just as CAFOD is hungry for more. “Hungry for Change” in our thinking and the World’s thinking.
To help the 870 million who do not even have access to safe clean water, to eat each day. Something that we take for granted.
Sarah was overwhelmed by the support she received both in sponsorship and on the marathon route.
The support during the Marathon was unbelievable. That so many people come out in support is incredible. From the CAFOD cheering teams, people handing the runners all sorts of goodies, including one lady who handed Sarah a banana (hope it was a Fairtrade one) to people at the finish including Mrs. Wilcockson from the Annunciation Chesterfield. It truly is an awe-inspiring occasion for both runners and spectators.
Why don’t you make an awe-inspiring decision today to make a difference, and Help CAFOD change lives forever?
To all those wonderful children at St Mary’s RC Primary. (When children get involved you just know it is important)
The year 5’s certainly got involved under the guidance of their teachers Julie McManus and Nicola Holloway.
After a visit and presentation from CAFOD Schools team volunteer Andy Ogley the children decided to raise money to support Sarah and help CAFOD’s work.
They were incredible in their fundraising carrying on beyond due time such was their excitement in helping others.
They raised a whopping £500. Well done to you all. You should be proud of yourselves and give each other a pat on the back and a hug.
As all who sponsored Sarah should do likewise.
“What have you done today to make you feel proud”
