St Catherine’s Harvest Fast Day Lunch

On Harvest Fast Day, Angela Powell from Hallam joined pupils from St Catherine’s Primary School for a home made Fast Day Lunch. Angela writes, It was a privilege to be able to join pupils, staff and members of the wider school community for a homemade lunch of soup and bread.

Afterwards, we held CAFOD workshops and I heard Y4 pupils describe their experiences of growing and harvesting some of the vegetables that went into the home-made soup.

We can all do something to help, because we are all equal in the eyes of God

This led onto a discussion about sharing and how this can lead to enough food for everyone. We ended our afternoon by making ‘Grace’ plates to express thanksgiving for the good things in our lives. I was particularly struck by a ‘grace’ which urges us all to do something, because we are all equal in the eyes of God.

Keep up the great work St Catherines, you’re an inspiration to us all!
