CAFOD works with partners in Peru

At 1pm, Esperanza Huayama, President of the Association of Forcibly Sterilised Women from the Huancabamba region in Peru, will speak on the work for justice and reparation.

Between 1996 and 1998, 200,000 women and 30,000 men were forcibly sterilised, many without consent or understanding of what the procedure meant for their fertility.

Our partner Peru Support Group and the University of Kent are supporting Esperanza raise awareness in the UK about forced sterilisation.
